Mar del Plata is located 404 km southeast of Buenos Aires city. It extends along a 47-kilometre coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. It is the seat of the Municipality of the General Pueyrredon District.

 

The city can be quickly and easily accessed by a wide route network and by air. Four routes (2, 11, 88 and 226) connect the city with the rest of the country. Motorway 2 links Mar del Plata with Buenos Aires city. Top-quality buses operate in the city with several services hourly. With a population of 614.350 inhabitants (2010 Census), Mar del Plata is the fifth largest city in the country and the third in the province of Buenos Aires.
